[ Summary ] The bone has several functions, such as supporting our body and regulating mineral metabolism. The bone is a hard tissue and contains the bone marrow. Moreover, there are many kinds of cells in the bone that have functional linkages. All these factors enable the bone to perform its function. Several hormones regulate physiological cellular functions of the bone. Additionally, it has been shown that the bone itself produces hormones to regulate functions of other organs. Furthermore, glucocorticoid excess can cause significant changes in bone metabolism, while the physiological role of glucocorticoid on the bone is not entirely clear. Thus, the endocrine system and bone metabolism are multilaterally connected.
