[ Summary ] Physical therapy in the Osteoporosis Liaison Service includes rehabilitation after a fracture and physical therapy for the prevention of secondary fractures, osteoporosis and primary fractures. Rehabilitation for hip fractures and vertebral fractures is aimed at reacquisition of the walking ability and ADL performance; if perfomed sufficiently, it will prevent fractures. Locomotion training is convenient, effective and highly safe for prevention of recurrent fractures and primary prevention in the maintenance phase. It can be utilized as a self-exercise at home after discharge from the hospital and in lecture events for the public, locomo-call programs, and other programs or events for preventing osteoporosis and fracture.
