[ Summary ] | Abnormal tooth development and formation have been reported in many mice with gene mutations. These observations indicate that the regulation of many genes is essential for normal tooth development. Discordant tooth development is seen in monozygotic twins, suggesting that epigenetic regulation and environment factors are also related to tooth development. Recently, studies demonstrated the tooth size in the Japanese has increased over timeļ¼ it is likely that this is attributable to the increase in their body size and stature. Considering these points, it is interesting to examine tooth abnormalities and their diversity in genetic diseases. This paper highlights tooth abnormalities noted in genetic diseases and discusses the complicated regulation of tooth development. |
