[ Summary ] Vascular and valvular calcifications have great impact on mortality rates for chronic kidney disease patients, especially dialysis patients. Evaluation of degree of those calcifications is very important for optimum management of CKD-MBD in real world clinical settings. However, we are still not sure which factors related to vaucular or valuvular calcification we should be cognizant of, and which evaluation method is best. For instance, coronary CT is a popular and suitable strategy to evaluate coronary calcification precisely, not only for management of CKD-MBD in clinical settings but, for clinical study. However, coronary CTs are not widely available especially in satellite dialysis clinics. In this review, we would like to summarize up to date knowledge concerning evaluations for cardiovascular calcification.
