[ Summary ] Tumor related hypophosphatemia may be due to primary hyperparathyroidism, caused by excess PTH, tumor induced osteomalacia or McCune-Albright's syndrome/fibrous dysplasia caused by an excess of FGF23. On the other hand, tumor related hyperphosphatemia may be due to tumoral calcinosis or tumor lysis syndrome. The genetic background and FGF 23 related actions of these diseases have become clear. Novel therapeutic methods for teaching these disorders may be developed through progress provided by basic research.
