[ Summary ] Kidney transplantation is one of the best prophylaxis and treatment for dialysis-related amyloidosis. However, in spite of its strong ability to reduce beta2-microglobulin, it is very difficult to improve already-developed amyloid deposits and destructive osteoarticular lesions after long-term hemodialysis. It is desirable that options on kidney transplantation become more accessible for ESRD patients in Japan.
