[ Summary ] |
Molecular biology has accelerated studies on the pathology of inflammation, osteoporosis and tumor metastasis that lead to bone destruction. We now have tools to suppress key pathological molecules involved in these diseases. These tools include biological agents such as monoclonal antibodies, soluble receptors and antagonists made with recombinant techniques. They have shown their efficacy in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Treated patients have suppressed bone destruction. An increasing number of new agents will be developed to suppress bone destruction. |
