[ Summary ] Vascular calcification is consisted from several heterogeneous disease conditions. Generally, vascular calcification is considered to have a strong association with cardiovascular events and / or related death. Epidemiological studies should be performed on each disease condition. Clinical studies on heterogeneous cohorts may lead to inaccurate conclusions. On the other hand, disease profiles for dialysis related amyloidosis are clear and uniform. Since it is quite difficult to screen out subclinical cases at present, neither disease epidemiology or treatment efficacy have been reliably assessed in a scientific manner. Before setting up clinical guidelines, we must overcome these problems, and acquire, the necessary clinical evidence.
