[ Summary ] The actions of PTH on bone tissue have the characteristic of being different in relation to PTH blood levels, PTH acts on cortical bone tissue cancellous bone tissue. It may acts continuously or change intermittently. Therefore, PTH influences not only the remodeling of cancellous bone tissue but also cortical bone tissue along with the mineralization of bone. The predominant PTH assay method for dialysis patients is shifting from conventional intact PTH assays to 1-84 PTH assays. There is a need to establish the appropriate ranges (upper and lower limits) and the target values for the 1-84 PTH levels to maintain normal remodeling of cancellous bone.
