[ Summary ] Parathyroid adenomas are common benign neoplasms for which their monoclonality have been described. Currently, two genes are established contributors to parathyroid adenomas, the cyclin D1 oncogene and the MEN1 tumor suppressor gene. Recent studies also suggest that DNA mismatch repair system may play a role in the molecular pathogenesis of parathyroid adenomas.
