[ Summary ] In dialysis induction, it is necessary to consider the long-term prognosis after. Conventionally, the timing of dialysis initiation is determined primarily by the estimated glomerular filtration rate. However, recently, evaluation of uremic symptoms is considered more important. Introduction of incremental hemodialysis such as the use of peritoneal dialysis has been attempted to maintain and improve residual renal function and quality of life. Furthermore, renal anemia, blood pressure, and chronic kidney disease–mineral and bone disorder in the non-dialysis end-stage renal disease (ESRD) affect the prognosis after dialysis initiation; therefore, management of non-dialysis ESRD is important.
