[ Summary ] | Inspite of the fact that Kt/V for urea is a useful marker and predicts survival rates in hemodialysis patients, urea is considered biologically inert. This may indicate that dialysis doses of some other toxic uremic substances vary with Kt/V for urea. Currently, no dosing parameters have been proposed for protein-bound substances. Nevertheless, considering kinetics of protein-bound substances, the following parameters are important: Kt/V and duration of dialysis session. |
