[ Summary ] In Japan, the Japanese Urological Association published the third edition of "Clinical Practice Guideline for Renal Cancer" in 2017. In this guideline, two important topics from the perspective of dialysis patients, including screening and pathological diagnosis, are considered as major issues. However, despite several statements with respect to conditions associated with dialysis patients, such as poor performance status, no description with direct relation to dialysis patients is noted in this guideline. Taken together, it may not be necessary to provide completely different treatments for dialysis patients with renal cancer from those for general renal cancer patients. However, there is a wide-ranging discussion on the development of optimal therapeutic strategy for dialysis patients with renal cancer. Here, I would like to summarize the effective application of this guideline to dialysis patients from practical viewpoints.
