[ Summary ] Sepsis is defined as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. For clinical diagnosis, organ dysfunction can be represented by an increase in the Sequential [Sepsis-related] Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score of 2 points or more. Although there is no specific recommendation regarding dialysis patients in the clinical guidelines for sepsis, careful interpretation of some aspects, such as avoidance of fluid restriction against initial fluid resuscitation phase in sepsis treatment, is necessary.
