[ Summary ] In Japan, "The JRS Guidelines for the Management of Pneumonia in Adults 2017" were published by the Japan Respiratory Society (JRS). Pneumonia in patients receiving dialysis is classified as nursing and health-care-associated pneumonia (NHCAP). NHCAP has been shown to be a process of medical treatment as a group of diseases with hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP). When diagnosed with HAP or NHCAP, the identification of end-stage patients who will certainly die was initially adopted as the treatment category concept. Antimicrobial agents should be selected considering the presence of sepsis, the severity of pneumonia, and the risk of resistant bacteria. However, data on the type of causative bacteria and the proportion of resistant bacteria in patients receiving dialysis are scarce and may differ depending on the patient background and facilities. It is recommended to use pneumococcal vaccine and influenza vaccine to prevent pneumonia.
