[ Summary ] Fragile bone fractures, associated with low bone mineral density, are prevalent in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and dialysis patients. Although they have the specific pathogenesis for the CKD-MBD, their conditions correspond to osteoporosis. No remedies are available to improve the deteriorated bone tissue, but bone mineral density could be targeted by several effective medications. We have to be aware that the available guidelines for the treatment of osteoporosis do not contain sufficient informations concerning CKD and dialysis patients.
