[ Summary ] Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a serious problem for patients in intensive care units because of high mortality, high morbidity, and high cost. There is no effective specific drug for prevention and treatment of AKI. Goal directed intervention has been used with critically ill patients. Recently, attention has been paid to KDIGO, a group of interventions recommended by the KDIGO guidelines. In addition, evidence of fluid management for critically ill patients is accumulating. High chloride fluids are thought to be associated with the development of AKI. We suggest a part of the guidelines of AKI, fluid management, and the KDIGO bundle be used in the management of AKI.
