[ Summary ] Weight management and management of serum potassium levels are easy with home hemodialysis because patients can perform dialysis to suit their individual lifestyle. However, awareness levels regarding dietary management are often low in these patients. An inappropriate diet predisposes these patients to the development of cardiovascular and lifestyle diseases. Compared with patients undergoing institutional dialysis, these patients have lesser opportunities to interact with medical staff. Maintaining regular visits is important for medical staff and patients undergoing home hemodialysis. Specific nutritional education regarding dietary habits is important in addition to assessments through diet surveys and physical measurements of various parameters, as well as data.
