[ Summary ] The "Management of Diabetic Patients on Hemodialysis 2012" guidelines issued by the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy propose that glycated albumin (GA) is a better marker of glycemic control than glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) for the evaluation of blood glucose control in diabetic patients undergoing hemodialysis. In addition to controlling GA as the mean plasma glucose, we also need to lower glycemic fluctuations to prevent cardiovascular events in patients undergoing hemodialysis. In this article, we report continuous glucose monitoring performed to monitor patients' blood glucose profile and describe the usefulness of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists in diabetic patients undergoing hemodialysis.
