[ Summary ] | Graft and overall patient survival rates after pediatrickidney transplantation (KTx) have improved due to the development of effective immunosuppressants and advances in perioperative care and operative procedures. Therefore, the focal point of transition has now become long-term management. Some reports indicate that graft survival rates in adolescents are lower than that in other age groups, which points towards the importance of transition. Recently, a transition system has been initiated to follow-up on patients after kidney transplantation in Japan, and we aim to gain experience in the field through this endeavor. The most important thing is to establish self-control in adolescent and young adult patients. The target and issue after pediatric kidney transplantation are considered to be successful transition and long-term graft survival. |
