[ Summary ] Infections, malignant tumors, allergies, and collagen diseases are known causes of fever. Among patients undergoing hemodialysis, dialysis-associated fever (such as allergic reactions against the dialyzer) is a known cause of fever. Infection should be suspected as a cause of fever among patients undergoing hemodialysis. Of note, early diagnosis and treatment is essential in those presenting with influenza, norovirus, and pulmonary tuberculosis because these infections could cause pandemic outbreaks among hospitals/healthcare facilities. Infection control is important in a hemodialysis unit/setting.
