[ Summary ] The hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) cause significant morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing dialysis.
Most patients with chronic HBV infection do not achieve a complete cure. Therefore, it is important to prevent HBV infection via HBV vaccination.
HCV can be completely cured using direct acting antiviral (DAA) therapy. Therefore, use of DAA therapy is recommended in patients infected with HCV undergoing dialysis.
