[ Summary ] The situation of healthcare-associated infections has undergone major changes. First, owing to the diversification of pathogens, particularly the appearance of new pathogens and spread of resistant bacteria, medical institutions have to constantly deal with the emergence of various pathogens. The development of new diagnostic methods has facilitated the rapid and accurate diagnosis of infections at an earlier stage. Due to the indication of reimbursement of infection control, team-based infection control systems and collaborations among hospitals have become popular. Based on these backgrounds, each medical institution should use various methods when caring for patients with infectious disease and dealing with infection control.
