[ Summary ] Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is one of the serious complications that can arise in patients on HD. The prognosis of critical limb ischemia due to PAD is extremely poor. Therefore, it is important to evaluate and treat such patients at an early stage. Continuous foot care plays an important role to prevent critical limb ischemia (CLI). We divided HD patients into six stages based on the presence of foot lesions and PAD. The foot care program was found to be useful for reducing the incidence of foot ulceration in HD patients with PAD. There is little evidence regarding exercise for dialysis patients with PAD. By continuing the walking exercise, improvements in exercise tolerance and cognitive function were observed. In CLI patients, we have to control their pain and do exercise therapy in the appropriate range. In the case of lower limb amputation, exercise training to maintain joint range and muscular strength reinforcement training will be conducted.
