[ Summary ] Blood volume monitoring (BVM) systems consist of machines to monitor changes in blood volume during blood purification therapy. They are very effective at preventing rapid declines in blood pressure during hemodialysis. Because BVM shows relative changes in blood volume, initial settings concerning condition affect results. The existence of vascular access recirculation and blood coagulation in the circuit disturb BVM monitors. BVM systems make control of water balance easy for hemodialysis patient treatment.
