Proper nutritional management is crucial for improving prognoses for hemodialysis (HD) patients. Excessive calorie intake, as well as salt intake are known to be risk factors for CVD. These can induce dyslipidemia and volume overload. Excessive intake of proteins may cause hyperphosphatemia, which is considered to be a risk factor for CKD-MBD. Not only an adequate understanding of nutritional profiles for diets and the pathophysiology of HD patients, but also an understanding of individual patient's dietary habits is needed to provide better nutritional management. Ideal dedicated, supported by medical staffs is the key to improving prognoses for HD patients. |
