[ Summary ] Online HDF (OL-HDF) is being carried out in many patients in anticipation of the prognosis of patients with end-stage renal disease. Therefore, it is required the dialysate composition that can be widely and safely used in patients. Regarding Na-balance in OL-HDF, Na overloading (insufficient elimination) is concerned, but no definite conclusion has been issued yet. However, regarding the dialysate concentration of potassium, reconsideration may be necessary in the future. On the other hand, with regard to acid-base balance and Ca-balance, it seems that it is possible to cope with a large number of patients by making appropriate selection from existing commercial dialysate.
