[ Summary ] The Japanese Nursing Association, announced their criteria version 2 for continuing education in 2012 in accordance with legal revisions. The criteria version 2 illustrate ways of conducting continuing education overviews and human resource development programs. Since the needs surrounding dialysis treatment have become more diverse, human resource development for dialysis nurses is an important issue. To expand human resource development programs for dialysis nursing, there is a need to devise teaching methods and content in light of the characteristics and background of the dialysis nurse. In terms of human resource development there is a need for the Japan Renal Failure Nursing Society and the Japanese Nursing Association to take advantage of continuing education. To improve the quality of dialysis therapy nursing, Dialysis Leading Nurse (DLN) as well as nursing administrator must be fostered.
