Theme Guideline for CKD-related anemia -- looking back twice's revision
Title Differences in renal anemia management between two guidelines published by JSDT and JSN
Publish Date 2017/02
Author Hirokazu Okada Department of Nephrology, Saitama Medical University
[ Summary ] A statement in the "Practical Guidelines for Renal Anemia Management 2015" published by the JSDT clearly pointed out Hb levels of 11 g/dL as the lower limit for erythropoiesis stimulating agent (ESA) therapy. A statement in the "Practical Guidelines for CKD 2013" published by the JSN did not mention this subject. There seems to be little difference between these two guidelines, and it is unlikely they will cause confusion in physicians as to the disadvantage for CKD patients. When revising the "Practical Guideline for CKD", target Hb levels for ESA therapy should be thoroughly discussed and determined.
