[ Summary ] Adynamic bone disease (ABD) is the most common form of renal osteodystrophy. Bone biopsy remains the gold standard for diagnosing ABD. The principal pathogenesis underlying ABD is oversuppression of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and resistance to the action of PTH on bone. Dysregulation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling has also been shown to be implicated in ABD. The main approach to treatment of ABD avoidance of the oversuppression of PTH and stimulation of PTH action.
