[ Summary ] MITORI refers to a series of medical interventions during the end-of-life care. What is important regarding care provision for elderly dialysis patients is that not only healthcare providers but also their family members should jointly engage in the process of considering the way treatment and care should be provided ; it is vital that all the concerned people cooperate to determine how and where the patients receive medical care, including dialysis, in such a way that they can lead a better life possible until their last moment. It is true that the care to be delivered (i.e., the care policy) depends partly on nurses' individual ideas about death ; however, of greater importance in MITORI is that nurses operate in conjunction with cooperative staff by understanding the general characteristics of dialysis patients.
