[ Summary ] The physician and the entire staff need to be involved for the maintenance and control of vascular access (VA). When the infection becomes systemic, VA infection progresses from sepsis to organ failure, and can lead to death. VA infection requires early diagnosis and treatment to prevent progression. The dialysis staff must evaluate VA daily, and the patient must be educated to report any abnormality immediately.
