[ Summary ] The problem of malnutrition and emaciation in elderly dialysis patients has recently come to the forefront. Registered dietitians are required to conduct nutritional consultations for the patients in relation to their environment and mental condition, as well as their eating habits. In relation to eating habits, the number of meals, appetite, weight fluctuation, chewing/swallowing disorders, and the state of the patients' teeth are checked. Regarding patients' living environment, we must confirm the presence of housemates and/or individuals who can cook for the patient. Hunger, depression, and cognitive dysfunction may be confirmed in respect to patients' mental condition. It is necessary to prevent malnutrition through nutritional management, which is comprehensively assessed in terms of the above aspects. The dialysis team including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, clinical engineers, medical social workers, and registered dietitians must cooperate with the psychiatric liaison team and care workers.
