[ Summary ] Elderly patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) experience high rates of complications, including frailty or sarcopenia due to various factors such as malnutrition and lack of physical activity. It has become clear that the low functional capacity of these CKD patients is a risk factor for poor prognoses. Therefore, to extend healthy life spans and maintain healthy lives undergoing while long term dialysis, prevention of low functional capacity through exercise intervention from the early stages of CKD is important. However, calculation of reimbursement for exercise therapy for CKD patients' medical fee in general, as well as dialysis patients, is not currently possible. For this reason, exercise therapy for CKD patients is provided as a form of home-based care. Aerobic exercise using a pedometer and resistance exercises which can be done at home are both recommended.
