[ Summary ] Health related QOL and ADL are important factors in predicting both mortality and hospitalization rates. Health related QOL and ADL for dialysis patients are low compared to the general population, even those with other chronic diseases.
There are no significant differences between HD and PD patients in most health related QOL or ADL studies, which are primarily observational. Elderly dialysis patients are rarely independent in terms of ADL or IADL (HD:5 %, PD:11 %). It is not clear which treatment modality terms of is better in health related QOL or ADL.
