[ Summary ] |
The number of hemodialysis patients who have difficulty visiting HD centers by themselves has increased. In these cases, patients often stay at hospitals for extended periods to receive HD. Assisted PD is one PD modality which requires some form of help, from family members, visiting nurses and other visiting health care professionals to overcome self-care PD barriers. To develop assisted PD, cooperation with hospital centers, clinics, professional health care teams, long-term care facility members and local governments is required. Education for doctors, medical staffs, patients and families are all important. Cooperation with governments and industries are also necessary for successful assisted PD. |
