[ Summary ] The average age of chronic dialysis patients at the end of 2013 was 67.2 years, and nearly one-half of these patients were elderly. The elderly often develop more than one complication, with geriatric syndrome, sarcopenia, and frailty being prevalent. Dialysis providers should be aware of these complications and make efforts for early detection and treatment. This is necessary for improving and maintaining the quality of life and activities of daily living of elderly dialysis patients.
