[ Summary ] The significance of multi-dimensional life satisfaction indices to assess quality of life for dialysis patients was investigated. Health related QOL (HRQOL) indices are frequently used to measure QOL in dialysis patients, primarily to evaluate the positive or negative effects of treatment on dialysis patients. However, it is very difficult for patients to avoid dialysis related negative incidents. Many patients must cope with these events. On the other hand, "total," or "multi-dimensional" life satisfaction indices can provide important information, not only concerning the process of coping with negative circumstances, but also effects concerning socio-psychological interventions on dialysis patients.
