[ Summary ] Some medicines worsen existing arrhythmia or cause a new arrhythmia to develop. Such cases of arrhythmia are called drug-induced arrhythmias. Antiarrhythmic, inotropic, antihypertensive, and diuretic drugs have been used in the treatment of circulatory disorders. Meanwhile, antidepressant, antipsychotic, antibacterial, antiviral, and antineoplastic drugs have been used in the treatment of noncirculatory disorders.
Fetal arrhythmic events such as torsade de pointes have been observed in QT extension. Special caution is necessary when causative and aggravating factors are observed. In dialysis patients, the various factors that affect blood concentration and the half-lives of drugs should be considered.
