[ Summary ] | At the time of initiation of dialysis, regression and denial are common mental states in patients. Regression and denial influence the patient's compliance with treatment. However, in reality, a good relationship with the dialysis faculty staff and appropriate knowledge play a major role in the patient's attitude towards dialysis. At the time of dialysis, the rate of depression is 44 % and the rate of anxiety disorder is 45.7 %. Decision making for dialysis is a contemporary problem. The author recommends 3 psychoanalytic assessments-reality testing, superego assessment, and adaptive regression tests-to understand the patient's judgment regarding dialysis initiation. |
