| [ Summary ] | One of the advantages of PD for the elderly is better maintenance of residual renal function. Urine volume can be well maintained in elderly PD patients. Though the weekly Kt/Vurea level is recommended to be over 1.7 for PD patients by treatment guidelines, elderly PD patients can be wellcared for with low volume peritoneal dialysates. The application of dialysis prescriptions using APD and/or icodextorin may decrease the burden of PD bag exchanges both for elderly patients and family members who support the patient (assisted PD). | |
