[ Summary ] In cases involving valvular disease in dialysis patients, calcification is often a major problem. Heart failure related symptoms may be controlled by undergoing dialysis. In these cases, intervention with surgical treatment may be delayed. We are often asked to perform valve repairs that anticoagulation is not necessary because of the long term survival rates for dialysis patients, especially in Japan. Recently, it has been reported that advances in surgical techniques involving valve reconstruction with autologous pericardium that is not required anticoagulation therapy has been reported.
