[ Summary ] The goal of HDF is to remove solutes with low molecular weights. These consist of proteins α1-MG of approximate a molecular weights of 33,000. On-line HDF, mass filteration makes it possible to use replenisher dialysates for solute removal efficiency. However, agressive removal of low molecular solute proteins can lower serum albumin levels since sieving albumin is difficult. On-line HDF may produce positive clinical effects, but increased albumin leakage is a concern. The leakage of albumin, may occur differently from patient to patient in the same treatment conditions. Therefore, control of leakage and individualized treatment is required. With the membrane filtration method constant pressure and constant speed of filtration are possible. A a result, albumin leakage is stabilized.
