[ Summary ] The stability index (SI) is a tool used in blood purification therapy. This is accomplished by employing a Laser Doppler Flowmeters (LDF). This stabilization index is used to monitor and evaluate the stability of blood purification therapy to control the range of set time axes. The SI evaluation method is comprised of two elements. One element is real time trend graphs (RTG). This enables us to observe hemodynamic tendencies and make predictions as to what is more likely to happen without producing questionable results. The other method is head SI (H-SI), H-SI is a technique to evaluate constant real time axes to compare with RTG. The flexability of use of this method is high, and comparisons inspection with previous data are possible. Fixed quantity evaluations are also easy. Optimal blood purification therapy criteria are possible for individual patients with these two techniques. The operational principles, mechanical components, result obtained and the future of imaging prior to SI are discussed.
