The "Home dialysis" is arbitrarily used for peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis (HHD). In Japan, these two modalities are used for the 95 % of dialyzed patients who receive center based dialysis therapy. Recently published data there are many advantages, to these modalities indicate such as blood pressure control and normalization of anemia and mineral metabolism. In spite of these advantages, increases in the number of elderly patients and patients with diabetes mellitus have prevented the expanded implementation of HHD. In the future, the burden of caring for elderly and diabetic patients, must be overcome. |
