[ Summary ] Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is one of the most effective renal replacement therapies for chronic renal failure due to diabetic nephropathy. There have been reports concerning the mortality and technical survival of PD for diabetic nephropathy. There is no special PD for patients in relation to diabetic nephropathy. We need to provide standardized PD, to manage plasma glucose levels, body fluid levels, and solute levels. PD is a highly flexibile modality to prevent, morbidity, and increase quality of life by providing individualized treatments. Reduction of the negative factors associated with PD as well as implementation of its positive factors should be the goals of the medical community.
