[ Summary ] Nutritional status is the most important factor guaranteeing long term survival along with a higher quality of life for dialysis patients. Not only general hospitals but also outpatient clinics require assessment of dialysis patient nutritional status. Since the revisions in medical service payment guidelines made in 2012, an nutrition support team (NST) charge for administive costs has applied only to inpatients. Our outpatient dialysis clinic has provided NST services with nutritional evaluation of dialysis patients. These are few reports on NST activity in dialysis clinic at this time, even though NST services are important to help dialysis patients have a high-quality of life. We hope NST care may be extended to more dialysis clinics in Japan.
