[ Summary ] | Intermittent infusion HDF (I-HDF) as a modified online HDF technique has been introduced for clinical use. In I-HDF therapy, ultra-purified dialysis fluids are intermittently infused into the blood as a substitution fluid for back-filtration. This is induced by a pump built into dialysis machines in completely closed systems. Clinical outcomes, in terms of membrane fouling reduction, are facilitated through water and solute transport via capillaries. Improvements are due to peripheral circulation and excellent blood pressure control during treatment. I-HDF is expected to be a novel treatment modality which will be superior to conventional high volume pre-dilution for online HDF. |
