[ Summary ] Intervention examinations are studies designed to clarify relationships between causes, such as exposure and development of illnesses. Many examinations consist of high quality randomization trials. These trials have come to often be quite large and expensive. One problem concerning within-subject designs is lack of parallel controls. Even if it seems that certain results were due to a particular intervention, other contributing factors must be considered. Comparative examinations within the group include N-of-1 tests. Crossover examinations are conducted to determine the validity of both within-subject examinations and groups of within-subject studies.
