[ Summary ] |
In recent years, the ageing of the dialysis patient population receiving in home medical care has become a serious object of study. Medical social workers play important roles to support these patients respecting the individual's rights of self-determination for patients and their families. Usually, these patients want to stay in their own homes while receiving medical care. However, in some cases they cannot obtain adequate in-home medical services because of restrictions, especially on patients receiving peritoneal dialysis. Medical social workers must recognize patients' needs and work to coordinate their efforts with relevant organizations. |
